Two amazing import reissues, available in limited quantities.¬† For Record Store Day 2018 Jamaica On Vinyl issues the original soundtrack from the 1964 BBC documentary THIS IS SKA, limited to 200 copies on yellow vinyl. Hear the originators of THE SKA backed by Jamaica’s #1 band Byron Lee & The Dragonaires. Includes Toots & The Maytals, Prince Buster, Eric Morris, Stranger Cole, Jimmy Cliff and more. Also in stock is Colonell Elliott & The Lunatics “Insterstellar Reggae Drive” LP – a “Moog-Style” reggae masterpiece, classic Trojan reggae riddims with re-imagined Star Wars / Switched-On-Bach keyboards on top. It’s part space aged bachelor pad music, and part vintage skinhead reggae. Originally released in 1974, and the version of TELSTAR is bonkers! Both of these LPs are limited color editions so act now!

Hopefully, we will get SMILE ORANGE OST back in stock soon. Smile Orange is a 1976 satirical film set in Jamaica. It follows the day-to-day life of Ringo (Carl Bradshaw) a smooth-talking waiter and con-man. The film explores the tourism industry in the Caribbean and seems to suggest there are similarities to slavery in that industry. The film was directed by Trevor D. Rhone, who also wrote the play on which it is based, and was produced by Edward Knight. The movie stars Bradshaw, Glenn Morrison, and Stanley Irons. Tunes range from smooth reggae, party calypso and deep island funk, and is must for fans of HARDER THEY COME, COUNTRYMAN, and ROCKERS.
