ARTHUR KAY is the unsung hero of 2-Tone, his early 80’s ska singles predated The Specials yet as the story of 2-Tone enjoys it’s 40th anniversary Arthur Kay is still not getting the recognition he deserves!!! GROVER teamed ARTHUR up with THE CLERKS for a fantastic new album in 2017 called “The Night I Came Home” – we finally have received more copies at a great price! It’s a 2-Tone delight in the vein of European ska explosion releases of the late 80s! Speaking of which, during the UK ska revival of the late 80s Skank Records collected all of Arthur Kay and The Originals’ released and unreleased 2 Tone-era recordings and issued “Rare ‘N’ Tasty”. At the time of its release, all of the 1979/1980 cuts on Rare and Tasty were right in synch with the contemporary UK ska scene, showing that KAY clearly had influenced many of the late 80s UK ska acts like The Loafers, The Hotknives, and The Riffs. His career was revitalized! In 2018 we released a special 4 track EP for Specialized BOSS SOUNDS project that featured Arthur Kay & The Clerks – Sea Cruise, Kingston All-Stars Featuring Stranger Cole– Step Up, Keith & Tex with Akasha – Stop That Train, The Crombies – Rough & Tough.
