Two classic 90’s album from American ska pioneers THE TOASTERS are once again back on vinyl! “DUB 56” from 1994 is a Moon Ska NYC classic, back in print on random color vinyl! A fantastic album, a highlight of the “third wave” – influenced heavily by British 2 Tone yet distinctly American. 14 tracks on vinyl: Direction, Freedom, Mona, Dancin’, Dub 56, Sweet Cherie, Tunisia, Little Hidden Secrets, Marlboro Man, Ain’t Huthin’, Razor Cut, Legal Shot, Midnight Hour, Goody Goody. A couple years ago when we were chatting to Bucket from THE TOASTERS, we realized that there were a handful of albums that NEVER appeared on vinyl including the amazing 2 TONE ARMY collection which included their biggest MTV2 video hits! The artwork is a tribute to iconic NYC SKA artist STEVE HEX who we lost a few years ago, this must have album includes the hits “I WASN’T GOING TO CALL YOU ANYWAY” and the title track “2 TONE ARMY”. 10 tracks, on dark grey marble vinyl. A truly fantastic record, one we are so proud to have our name on!

It’s been a few years since we’ve had an album from THE DENDRITES up on the site, but we assure you that this will make up for lost time! You might remember their “MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME” full length on Megalith back in 2009, since then the band have really built up a strong scene in their home state of Colorado with a self-released CD in 2011 and a cool vinyl 12″ EP in 2013. Fast forward to 2017 at SKA BREWING’s 22nd ANNIVERSARY PARTY in Durango Colorado. Headliners LESS THAN JAKE were forced to cancel due to Hurricane Irma and with one day’s notice THE DENDRITES came and saved the day! A wonderful night was had by all, the band’s super cool and jazzy instrumental ska vibe was a hit with the packed crowd, fans danced right to the very end! It was at that very moment that we here at JUMP UP knew we wanted THE DENDRITES to join the family. In this day and age an 100% instrumental ska/reggae/jazz album is a bit of a rarity, but we LOVED this record so much that we were up for the challenge. Kinda like Blue Note recordings, timeless music “sings” whether they have vocals or not – “DAMN RIGHT” is one of those albums that we are sure will be considered a “future classic”. Available on aqua colored vinyl, cassette tape, and compact disc.

At long last, two 90’s classics from THE TOASTERS back on limited edition cassette tape! “DUB 56” was released in 1994, right when the ska scene started to kick into high gear! The album was released on cassette tape by Moon Ska NYC and in Europe on Poland’s Rock N’ Roller label. “2 TONE ARMY” originally was released in 1996 as “HARD BAND FE DEAD” on Moon Ska NYC, and positioned the band to be one of the top acts during the heydey of third wave ska. Features guest appearances from Lester Sterling of The Skatalites and Laurel Aitken. In 1998 the album was named “2 TONE ARMY” for the very first time, released in Poland by Rock N’ Roller…on cassette! This was the only tape release for the album, and has become quite a rarity indeed! We’re glad to have it back on tape once again! Both “DUB 56” and “2 TONE ARMY” are limited editions of 150 copies with brand new artwork – highly collectible! brought to you by Jump Up Records and some of the greatest bands playing Ska music right now.
BLUES ATTACK now OUT OF PRINT. Far too often when a band claims to combine two dissimilar styles of music into an all powerful “new” hybrid, fans get a wee bit skeptical. After all, in most cases these creative endeavors fail miserably – and quite often it involves ska music. Simply put, this stereotype does not apply to the SKABILLY REBELS. RODDY RADIATION’s band successfully takes the best parts of rockabilly, minus the cheesiness that all too often is associated with the genre, and then puts it to a laid back traditional ska beat. Should we expect anything less? Of course you already know him as the legendary guitarist of The Specials (who also wrote their classics ‘Rat Race’, ‘Concrete Jungle’ & ‘Hey Little Rich Girl’), who also later formed blues influenced acts The Bonediggers and The Tearjerkers. He’s a veteran and true innovator of both the 2-TONE ska movement and the English rockabilly revival scene. Roddy’s voice is smooth and melodic, yet with pub grit. The fact that his guitar playing is superb goes without saying, but his ability to seamlessly combine both ska and rockabilly without losing the integrity of either genre is downright amazing. Roddy Radiation has proven again that he is a truly innovative musician and may be in the process of once again reinventing the face of ska music. Guess this album forces rude boy mods and skins to mix with rockers and teddy boys. What can’t we all just get along? Continue reading RODDY RADIATION “BLUES ATTACK” LP (JUMP095LP – OUT OF PRINT)
We’re restocking the latest album from one of our favorite new international bands – THE MIGHT FISHERS from HUNGARY! An amazing seven piece that play traditional ska, rocksteady, early reggae and lovers’ rock – lead by the sultry female vocals of Anna “CeAnne” Szelinger, who is also a member of the Pannonia All Stars Ska Orchestra. We love her music so much that we will be releasing her solo acoustic ukulele ska/reggae album this Christmas on cassette tape! Follow CeAnne on Instagram and hear some of these beautiful acoustic tunes! Their first ’High Four’ EP was released in September, 2011 and brought the attention to MAD BUTCHER Records in Germany who released one of their songs is on “Skannibal Party Vol. 11”. They have toured all over Europe (Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Croatia) and have played on the famous Sziget Festival (HU), Skaville Festival (HR), This is Ska (see VIDEO here) (DE), and Rototom Sunsplash . “Soul Garden” is their debut full length, released as a collaboration between Mad Butcher (Germany) and Casual Records (France), 13 tracks that are a perfect summer soundtrack! Light and airy ska sounds on “Every Night & Every Day” , funky uptempo reggae on “Magical Sound”, laid back vocal harmony rock steady jams “Skin That Fish”, “Give Me Some”, and “Dancing Mood”, heavy organ early reggae scorchers on “Working”, “Hard Life”….man, I could go on forever! Just get this record! Check out this sweaty live concert from earlier this year!
