Two classic 90’s album from American ska pioneers THE TOASTERS are once again back on vinyl! “DUB 56” from 1994 is a Moon Ska NYC classic, back in print on random color vinyl! A fantastic album, a highlight of the “third wave” – influenced heavily by British 2 Tone yet distinctly American. 14 tracks on vinyl: Direction, Freedom, Mona, Dancin’, Dub 56, Sweet Cherie, Tunisia, Little Hidden Secrets, Marlboro Man, Ain’t Huthin’, Razor Cut, Legal Shot, Midnight Hour, Goody Goody. A couple years ago when we were chatting to Bucket from THE TOASTERS, we realized that there were a handful of albums that NEVER appeared on vinyl including the amazing 2 TONE ARMY collection which included their biggest MTV2 video hits! The artwork is a tribute to iconic NYC SKA artist STEVE HEX who we lost a few years ago, this must have album includes the hits “I WASN’T GOING TO CALL YOU ANYWAY” and the title track “2 TONE ARMY”. 10 tracks, on dark grey marble vinyl. A truly fantastic record, one we are so proud to have our name on!

Celebrate RECORD STORE DAY 2017 with JUMP UP, and pick up our limited vinyl edition of the RUDE GUEST anthology! Marble vinyl, limited to 150 copies, comes with a DL code and a button! Not familiar with their story? During the early 80’s a small handful of bands kept the 2-Tone ska flame alive – Chicago’s RUDE GUEST was one of them! They released 4 limited edition cassettes before the US third wave kicked into full gear, and this release compiles all 16 songs from these tapes. Songs songs range from happy-go-lucky uptempo 2-Tone ska with a strong sax lead (think Madness or Bad Manners) to progressive roots reggae with a rock guitar lead and brooding 80’s keyboard. We first issued these tracks for CASSETTE STORE DAY back in October, and received some amazing press from the Chicago Reader – who did a full feature on the release including an interview with founding member Paul Schroeder. Read all about that HERE. Continue reading RSD 2017: RUDE GUEST Lost Chicago Ska 1982-1993″ LP vinyl / CD / TAPE

Original DGB singer “Lord” Mike Park once again was on the case and recruited a top notch troop that included ex-DGB keyboard player Karl Gustafson, DGB guitarist Dave Simon, Vee Sonnets on lead guitar, Jason Berry on bass, and Matt Meuzelaar on drums. The band’s first 2-TONE’d studio cut was NINEY THE OBSERVER’s “BLOOD & FIRE” released on a limited edition 7″ single, with a new version of the classic DGB song “MAD AT THE WORLD” on the flip. Nick Welsh Is KING HAMMOND – he is a SKA musician, producer, and songwriter from the UK. JUMP UP RECORDS is proud to release his first vinyl full length album since 1987’s “Revolution ‘70” – a skinhead reggae rarity released on Buster Bloodvessel’s resurrected Blue Beat label. What? Vintage 60s/70s skinhead reggae revival sounds in 1987? That’s like 15 years before THE AGGROLITES man! Can that be true?
“FLOORSHAKER!” is the hottest sound from reggae’s past, taking the best from KING HAMMOND’s “KING AND I” and “JACUZZI” CD releases- creating the finest vinyl release of 2011. MARCO ON THE BASS blog calls it “a startling crisp and addictive collection of skinhead reggae tracks that pay homage to the originals that inspired them but retains a contemporary pop feel”. It’s 14 tracks dripping with piercing organ, vintage disco-era keyboards, powerful brass, JUDGE DREAD / PRINCE BUSTER style chat/sing , and hypnotic guitar and bass – it truly is a FLOORSHAKER!
