We at JUMP UP have been fans of SOLOMON JABBY for years – we are so proud to finally be able to work with him! As the guitarist and one of the original members of Christian roots reggae powerhouse Christafari, SOLOMAN has toured the world ’round and recorded a dozen plus albums. But much of his work has been overlooked in the “secular” market. This 7″ single will change that! Two BLAZING early reggae instrumentals with grinding organ – everyone who I have played this for so far immediately thought it was THE AGGROLITES or a ROGER RIVAS solo record! THESE TWO TRACKS are THAT GOOD! As always, released on Limited Edition random colored vinyl! You can hear this on on our Soundcloud page!

PEPPER POTS “Waiting for the Christmas Lights” 7″ Vinyl (JUMP7XMAS) – OUT OF PRINT
Christmas time again! Did you forget that we released a wonderful RED VINYL Christmas 7″ single from Spain’s PEPPER POTS? They have a brand new album out on Legere too!
The PEPPER POTS are one of our favorite bands, their retro 60’s ska/reggae and girl group soul sounds are top notch in our book! Their second record “NOW!” was recorded in NYC under the influence of the DAPTONE crew which became the point where the band firmly went in the soul direction. As usual, they attend to every little detail, inspired by the old dusty vinyl records from Motown, Stax and Studio One. We at JUMP UP made it a mission to work with the band in some way to make our life more complete, so at the end of 2010 we rush released their wonderful Christmas single on vinyl to fill jukeboxes worldwide! Full picture sleeve, red vinyl in stock! Two great tracks including a FLIRTATIONS cover!

THE INCITERS “Soul Clap” LP / CD (JUMP105) (OUT OF PRINT)
Back in print after nearly a year to coincide with their European tour! Now on royal blue vinyl and comes with a patch! Although JUMP UP is known for our Jamaican sounds, we are very proud of America’s finest Northern Soul band – THE INCITERS from San Francisco! An overpowering 11-piece dance floor soul band that has brought the house down from LA to Chicago and all across Europe, releasing 3 albums to date on Grover/Elmo Records in Germany and “ DOING FINE” which was recorded in Chicago and released by JUMP UP in 2000. THE SOULSTEPPERS – “The Return of…” 10″ LP / CD {OUT OF PRINT} (JUMP078)
We just pressed this on vinyl due to popular demand! Limited edition of 300 copies, 10″ vinyl LP housed on vintage green sleeve. A skinhead reggae classic ! The SOULSTEPPERS formed in 1998 out of Bakersfield California, focusing on the original “skinhead” sounds of reggae and soul – ranging from the Jamaican producers of Leslie Kong, Lee Perry, and Clancy Eccles to the choppier UK styles of Laurel Aitken and Joe “The Boss” Mansano. At the time the USA (and much of the world) were in the midst of a “Third Wave” ska revival, but founding members Mike & AJ choose to focus on a Jamaican sound that had been sadly overlooked – the original 60’s skinhead reggae sound. When most fans talk about skinhead reggae, the conversation inevitably turns to the legendary UPSETTERS, a band who Continue reading THE SOULSTEPPERS – “The Return of…” 10″ LP / CD {OUT OF PRINT} (JUMP078)
LORD MIKE’S DIRTY CALYPSONIANS – “More” CD/10″ LP (JUMP070) (OUT OF PRINT)
The seeds of Lord Mike’s Dirty Calypsonias were planted years ago within the ska/reggae scene of Chicago. As the legendary singer of Deal’s Gone Bad, Mike toured endlessly across America and recorded three full length albums for JUMP UP Records. Mike retired from Deal’s Gone Bad in late 2003, being replaced by Todd Hembrook (formerly of Heavy Step). At this time, Mike’s calypso calling had
not surfaced yet…but a few months later it came suddenly in the dark of the night! A vision! Was it an apparition of the Mighty Sparrow himself? Could it have been the voice of Lord Kitchener? We will never know exactly what occurred in the deep of sleep that night! That next morning, as the newly christened “Lord Mike”, the Dirty Calypso vision began to spring into action. Recruiting an all star Chicago lineup including several former Deal’s Gone Bad Continue reading LORD MIKE’S DIRTY CALYPSONIANS – “More” CD/10″ LP (JUMP070) (OUT OF PRINT)
THE HYPOCONDRIACS “60’s ROCKSTEADY & REGGAE” LP (JUMP106) (OUT OF PRINT)
THE HYPOCONDRIACS are rumored to have been the first reggae/rocksteady band from Madrid, who recorded in the late 60’s and released one privately pressed LP that went virtually unnoticed by the press and music fans…not for musical reasons! Dave Barker and Roy Ellis are rumored to contribute backing vocals on this scarce album…if you listen closely you can hear that it could be true. The reason why people did not buy the LP from the band back in the day? Fear and superstition!
From what we know this four piece had contracted a very rare and highly contagious disease that nobody could diagnose. Because of this, fans were afraid to just touch a copy of the LP – you can imagine what that did for sales! The band had given up on live shows altogether. Copies of the LP that survived seemed to have been scrubbed clean by the owners, and also included a “farewell note” from the band, which we have put into Google translate for non-Spanish speakers:

TOMMY TORNADO “Cool Down” LP (JUMP103) (OUT OF PRINT)
Thomas ‘Tommy Tornado’ Streutgers is a gifted Dutch saxophone player who joined the famous Rude Rich & The High Notes at the tender age of 18. Since then he has toured all over the world, making records with and backing famous Jamaican vocalists such as Alton Ellis, Dave Barker, U Brown, and The Heptones. His debut solo album “Sunrise” was released in 2010 (CD/LP from Jump Up!), comprised mostly of instrumentals, on which he is assisted by legendary Jamaican players including Rico Rodriguez, Ernest Ranglin, Winston Francis, and Dennis Alcapone. MR T BONE & YOUNG LIONS “NOTHING TO LOSE” CD / LP (OUT OF PRINT) (JUMP101)
If you didn’t snag your copy of his new album on JUMP UP on his 2011 USA tour, it’s time to do so now! ITALY’s top traditional ska/reggae artist returns – MR T BONE’s soulful lyrics and big trombone often is compared to Germany’s DR RING DING, but he truly is a unique singer, instrumentalist, and bandleader whose YOUNG LIONS return for 14 tracks of rootsy ska, early reggae, and funky rock steady. Fans of THE SLACKERS totally love the YOUNG LIONS’ tight groove, and after the recent Chicago show a close friend of mine said he reminded him of a cross between LOUIS PRIMA and DENNIS BROWN! Now that’s an amazing compliment indeed!

THE CROMBIES “Blood & Fire” b/w “Mad At The World” 7″ – now on WHITE vinyl! (OUT OF PRINT)
THE CROMBIES debut 7″ is out now! We debuted the single at July’s LATE BAR 2 TONE extravaganza – fans were dancing up such a storm that the DJ booth shook and made the record skip! That truly was a DANCE CRAZE! Niney The Observer’s “Blood & Fire” never sounded better, and it’s already the Chicago Fire’s new fight anthem! The flip is “Mad At The World” – a legendary tune from the early Deal’s Gone Bad days given new life! Pick up the 7″ for only $5 postage paid in the USA! Click on the image to buy! Look out for their full length on LP vinyl, CD, and Cassette this fall!
