New York’s STOP THE PRESSES have been hard at work becoming one of today’s top traditional ska rocksteady acts, touring across the USA and wowing crowds at Supernova Ska Festival in 2021! This self released debut is a classic was engineered and mixed by Agent Jay and features a guest appearance by Dave Hillard of The Slackers. Includes the live fan favorite cover of OINGO BOINGO’s “DEAD MAN’S PARTY” too! Gold vinyl.
Three more great German reissues from MAD BUTCHER! First off is the debut and second album of bouncy 2-Tone rhythms from SKAOS! These stone cold classic originally were released in 1989 on PORK PIE Germany, but also appeared later on UNICORN UK. From the get go this album gets your feet moving much in the same way as others from the era: MR REVIEW, NO SPORTS, NAPOLEON SOLO immediately come to mind. SKAOS was always compared to MADNESS back in the day, and I can still see that – this album does have a constant “ONE STEP BEYOND” feel to it with it’s hypnotic horns and tight keys. Oh my listening to this once again brings back some memories! Reissued in original German art. Another gem from Germany is BLECHREIZ “Who Napped J.B.?”, a soul influenced 2-Tone gem that originally was released on the short lived RUDE RECORDS in Germany.
We are so pleased to have these must have 80’s classics from THE TOASTERS back in stock! One of my faves to this day is their 1989 classic “THRILL ME UP”, originally released on Skaloid. That was the heyday of singers Sean ‘Cavo‘ Dinsmore and Lionel ‘Nene‘ Bernard, who became so popular from this album that they got signed to a major label as the UNITY 2. “POOL SHARK” was released on Unicorn in 1987 and contains early classics that the band still performs to this day! After 90’s ska boom had come and gone in the USA, many albums released in the early 2000’s were simply missed by fans worldwide. Hopefully, you realize artists like THE SPECIALS and labels like JUMP UP continued to support ska during “the lean years”….labels ran to release other styles (dare I say emo), and ska bands “changed their sound” to avoid being called ska. Guess what? There were some cool ska albums released at the turn of the millenium, including 2 albums by THE SPECIALS! Both “SKINHEAD GIRL” and “CONQUERING RULER” dig into the TROJAN RECORDS soundbook, and the band’s sound was top notch lead by RODDY RADIATION, NEVILLE STAPLE, HORACE PANTER, and NEOL DAVIES. Well done MAD BUTCHER, releasing these records on vinyl give the albums a new lease on life and will be enjoyed by an entire generation of vinyl fans! Continue reading Restocked! THE SPECIALS “Conquering Ruler” & “Skinhead Girl” LP vinyl in stock now!

British 2-Tone ska punk band THE TALKS formed in 2006 and had the distinct honor of opening for The Specials on their 30th anniversary tour way back in 2009. Their albums are a smorgasbord of catchy tunes, well crafted engaging songs that fit extraordinarily well within the confines of ska’s structural boundaries. We have stocked both of their classic albums from 2014 and 2015 released on Grover Records in Germany, a must for fans of Buster Shuffle, classic 2-Tone. and modern American third wave ska. “Hulligans” features a song with Neville Staples too!
For more than 20 years German band the SENIOR ALL STARS have dedicated themselves to the instrumental form of Jamaican music. Reggae, jazz, dub: the three terms still define the framework in which the sound of the all-stars has changed and developed. In terms of composition and play, the band is deeply rooted in the reggae of the 70s and 80s, the musicians go one step further in composition, interaction and sound and create their personal continental-european dub-reggae style. In 2017 their ninth album “Elated” was released then soon after corresponding dub versions on “Related”. Both albums new to our webshop, “Elated” on limited edition yellow vinyl. Also new to the shop are RED vinyl copies of their Skatalites tribute 7 inch “Freedom Sounds” b/w the dub on Grover Supreme. If you buy both LPs we’re give you the 7 inch FREE automatically!
